The countdown begins!

If I'm being honest, I've been counting down basically since 100 days, but now we are 13 days out from the wedding and 10 days out from when the festivities begin!

This weekend was a whirlwind. It actually started on Thursday night with my baby sister's homecoming parade. Then we all went out for mexican food and good times.

The game was Friday night, and even though she didn't win, she was beautiful! We went out again to celebrate.

Saturday was Harvest Day! My town's Fall Festival is always a good time, but it was even more fun with a 3 year old in tow this year. This gorgeous little girl had so much fun!

Saturday afternoon was my last dress fitting! I get it back this week. Sunday I went down to Lexington to do a practice run with hair and make-up for the wedding. Lil D was with us and she got her make-up done too.

It was a very busy weekend and this week will continue to be a whirlwind. I'm spending the afternoon unpacking and organizing in the apartment with Jodi Rae while Jason works. I just know that the next few weeks are going to be amazing!

Welcome back to Wino Wednesday with Aubrey from High-Heeled Love and Myself!

Three Simple Rules:

1) Take the Button

In case you are new here (or have been hiding under a rock) I'm getting married in October :) And I like to think I'm going to be doing all you winos proud in my integration of wine into the ceremony and reception. This week I've been working on the decor. I saw these pins...
And this is what I've created so far!

What do you think? Am I doing good?

Boobies and Burlap

That was my weekend guys. I now have tons of pictures of Boobies and Burlap on my phone.

Kylie loved sleeping on my boobs. It was too funny the way she kept hugging them, and in the end there are lots of pictures of a cute little baby sleeping on my boobs.

Saturday Jodi and I grabbed lunch at the clock. It has been forever since I ate there and my Grilled Cheese with Bacon was yummy!

Last night I decided to work on wedding crafts. I'm really happy with the was these things are turning out. The living room was covered with burlap strings and scraps, but it was worth it.

So that was my weekend, how was yours?

Today's post is a short and sweet one on my end. I'm in an all day training today and tomorrow. I hate sitting in one place all day long. I can feel the boredom welling up inside of me already.

I haven't made any huge wine discoveries over the past few weeks, however I did find these beauties!

The dilemma of drinking red wine while wearing a white dress has been solved my friends. Jason and I will be toting these around during our reception in October.

Happy Wednesday Winos!

Manic Monday!

I have so much to do. I always have lots to do but this week especially. I have my Summer Show on Saturday so I'll be continuing to stock pile product, clean and prepare. Then there is the fact that my wedding is only 118 days away!!!

I will be at home 2.5 nights this week. Meaning that tonight will be jewelry and Friday night will be sewing. I'll have to tag and price on my lunch break, and when I get home from book club Thursday I'll do a lot of cleaning. I'm going to have to really start structuring my weeks to get make sure I get everything done!

One big thing I still have to do for the wedding is finalize the playlist and make sure the music is in order. I still have a few things to fill in on the program, and the biggest thing still on the list is to get my dress altered. Luckily that one shouldn't be a major feat, It's almost perfect as is.

I've been working on the attendant gifts and parent gifts so that I will know those are taken care of. I'm trying to get those kind of little things done so I'm less likely to stress out later.

So here is my question for you guys. What are some things you didn't think about when you got married that were "Oh, yeah" thoughts late in the game? Or if you aren't married maybe you've been around and seen a friend forget something? I want to make sure I've thought of everything.

Finally, I thought I'd link-up a little fun for Musical Monday.

I Have and Always Will

I'm very excited because I'm ordering J's wedding band today! The wedding is four months away and I'm getting really excited/nervous. I've still got a lot to do to get ready but I'm so ready at the same time. So since I'm floating around I thought I'd link-up with Holli and the girls for Tuesday Tunes and share one of our wedding songs :)

Don't forget to get your Wino Wednesday Posts ready for tomorrow and get your 10 entries for the Rewined Sangria Candle!

Wedding Weekend

So this was our first "Wedding Weekend". We had a blast! Saturday morning all of the women in our families came over to see me try on my wedding dress and get a glimpse of all the projects I was working on, including a sneak peek at my invitations.
My Grandmothers
My sister and mom both made fantastic pound cakes that we had with coffee while we visited. It was really fun sharing everything with them.
Yum!
Then in the afternoon we went over to Jason's parent's house and grilled out with our imediate families. It was a lot of fun.

Cute little cheesecake
Sunday morning we took everyone to the venue. Jason's dad hadn't gotten to go in January, and it was the first time our siblings were seeing it. It was even more beautiful in bloom than it was when we decided to get married there so that was awesome.

After the families dispersed my mom and I headed off to do some shopping for her mother of the bride dress. We shopped Sunday afternoon and most of the day yesterday. We didn't find the dress, but we did find an accessory that gave us the perfect vision and we're now completely confident that we will find exactly what we want.

We got a late start yesterday because we went by to see my uncle and grab lunch from his food truck. He does BBQ and he is cooking for our wedding. It's super yummy and I'm really excited about it. They set up for the weekend at Gramling Farms and they sold out at 1:00pm yesterday! I was excited for him but he now plans to cook much more when they set up for 4th of July.

We really did have a phenomenal weekend. I get a little down sometimes that my mom and sisters aren't closer while I'm planning my wedding, but this weekend was just what I needed.

Have I mentioned I'm getting married?

I made a comment to a friend early on that being engaged is awesome because you get to do so many fun things. Engagement pictures are one of those things!

Wino Wednesday: First Wedding Fail

 SweetSouthernGirl

Welcome back to Wino Wednesday with Aubrey from High-Heeled Love and Myself!

Three Simple Rules:

1) Take the Button
2) Write a Wine-related Post
3) Link-up!

So I know I've posted about this at least once before, but I'm getting married in October so indulge me :)

I finally cut some bottles with my nifty new tool. I actually started trying a while back and thought I was doing something wrong, I simply couldn't make it work. So Monday night I got a little ballsy and decided that instead of pouring boiling water and ice water over the bottle I was going to immerse the bottles in a pot of boiling water and then in the ice water. It worked. So I have three bottles cut for these lantern-like centerpieces.

Wedding Fail #1
This doesn't work. The bottle opening is too narrow for the air to circulate and after you cover the burning candle it only take a moment for the flame to die out from lack of oxygen.

I'm going to experiment some more (maybe drill a hole in the back so fresh air can get in?) but I'm not sure I'm going to make this work. I still have plenty of wine bottle centerpiece ideas, but I was excited about using some candles with my bottles. I'm still thinking I may pour some soy candles, but I'm nervous about the mess that's going to make.

I like these hanging lanterns too, but I'll need more hardware and a glass drill bit. Again, a lot of work.

I can paint bottles, wrap bottles, cut the tops and use them for vases, but I'm still looking for a few more simple ideas.

What do you think this would look like if I cut the bottles at different heights and but three on a table?

Do you have any more ideas for what I can do with empty wine bottles?

Honorary Bridesmaids

I have asked 10 girls to be my honorary bridesmaids. That's a lot! But I have so many wonderful friends that I want to have around me as I get married. I don't want a big flashy ceremony with lots of attendants, but I want them around, and I want them to know they are special.

So I made a simple notecard with their names and then wrote personal notes on the back for each girl. Some of them already knew I was going to be asking them, and a few I'd actually talked to already but everyone likes mail right?

I found this on Pinterest, which is a great idea if you and your friends have never heard of an honorary bridesmaid. Since most of my friends are familiar with the concept, I didn't want to put any real "rules" with the role, more because I wanted flexibility :)

So I get to have all of my girls with me for the celebrations but it will not be nearly as stressful for them because they get to wear what they want and they don't have to stand in front of people or feel obligated to show up for every single pre-wedding event. Perfect right?

I was an Honorary Bridesmaid for my friend Rebecca last weekend. I went to her Bachelorette Dinner, the Rehearsal Dinner, the Bridesmaids Luncheon, and I got to go see her in her gown before the ceremony. It was awesome. She was so sweet. She had these pretty daffodils for us to carry and gave me this adorable make-up bag with my initial on it!

I've been really excited thinking about the things I can do with and for my honorary bridesmaids as well as my sisters (who are my actual attendants). It's going to be such a fun time. I absolutely can't wait!

Have you ever been an Honorary Bridesmaid? Did you have them in your wedding?

Wedding Truths

via
Truth #1

I am ecstatic about getting married.

Truth #2

I want to be very careful not to ALWAYS be talking about my engagement/wedding.

Truth #3

Pinterest, The Knot, Wedding Wire; they are all great, but this girl is on a budget!

Truth #4

I LOVE hearing from my friends and readers.

I know that last one isn't technically a wedding truth, but it can be. The best advice I've gotten so far was to decide what is and isn't important to me, and let the rest fall into place from there. I actually like getting advice from everyone. I don't promise to always take every piece of it, but its awesome to hear different points of view and get your stories from planning your weddings!

So what kind of advice would you give me going into this wonderful/crazy/stressful time? I want to enjoy every minute of it without letting it consume me. I want your comments!
