Today I thought I'd share some Southern Sayings with you and what they mean. My sister and I spend a lot time laughing at people's expressions when we use these saying that they've never heard and definitely don't understand.

"Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise"

When we were kids there was this lady in our church who would say this every week in response to "see you next week". Basically years ago if you had to cross a bridge to go to church there would be times it would rain so hard that the creek would rise up over the bridge and you couldn't cross. The Good Lord willing was at least self-explanatory. I was doing business with an older gentleman a few weeks ago and when I said "I'll see you in a few weeks then." That's how he responded. It made me smile.

"That's her/his/their little red wagon."

Basically interpreted, "That's their problem, not mine." I actually didn't hear this expression until the past few years. My former supervisor used it a lot when talking about people's quirks or hang-ups. She's from Alabama so maybe it's regional?

"That really got my goat"

Something was hilarious. I'm not sure at all where the "goat" comes into play in this expression. But I remember the first time my sister heard my mom say it she absolutely lost it. Hence the title. Now when someone's being funny she'll come out with "You goat geter, you."

"Tease it to Jesus" or "Jacked up to meet Jesus"

Often used when referring to a guy who can't get around to proposing marriage, but anytime someone isn't making a decision or acting on something that needs to be done.

I'm a number's girl now!

So today I've got numbers on the brain! My new job is in the accounting/taxes field so numbers are about to be a big part of my new routine. Today's numbers, brought to you by the non-productive mind of yours truly...

I Have and Always Will

I'm very excited because I'm ordering J's wedding band today! The wedding is four months away and I'm getting really excited/nervous. I've still got a lot to do to get ready but I'm so ready at the same time. So since I'm floating around I thought I'd link-up with Holli and the girls for Tuesday Tunes and share one of our wedding songs :)

Busy Busy Busy

What a busy weekend! We had out engagement pictures taken on Friday. I can't wait to see how they turn out. We went out with our friends Friday night for a Dueling Piano Show at Back Porch. Saturday was the Palmetto Blogger Meet-up (Pics and details Wednesday) and yesterday was a nice rainy Sunday indoors with my sweetie.

This week I'm spending all my extra time making jewelry for this weekend's Wired Essentials show. Gotta make that money to get some extras for my wedding :)

Rock the Denim!

Some of you may already know that April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month. There have been so many devastating cases of sexual assault in the news lately. Sexual Assault isn't something that happens somewhere else to someone else. This is an issue that is in our own communities, in our very own backyards. This April in Spartanburg, SC, SAFE Homes – Rape Crisis Coalition has teamed up with the Children’s Advocacy Center, and the Hope Center for Children to coordinate a large scale effort to raise awareness and benefit local agencies providing services to victims of sexual violence every day.

The Rock the Denim Campaign is a community fundraising and awareness effort that adopts the spirit of Denim Day.  In 1999 an Italian Supreme Court overturned the conviction of a 45 year old driving instructor for the rape of his 18 year old student. The reason cited was the girl’s clothing. It was determined that because she wore blue jeans the instructor could not have removed them without assistance, therefore she must have consented. People everywhere were outraged and within hours prominent women within the legal community were walking the courthouse in blue jeans to protest the decision. Since that time Denim Day in LA and the USA was born. Peace Over Violence, the agency behind Denim Day, centers this campaign around the fact that a woman’s choice of clothing is no excuse for rape.

On April 20^th, 2013, we are presenting the Rock the Denim Concert Event in Barnet Park. This will be an evening of live music, children’s activities and denim displays from the community.  The live musical act will be JJ Dae, One Love, The Wheresville Project, Sound Medicine, The Consumers and Greenfield Excursion. We will also have children's activities from 3:00pm - 7:00pm as well as food and drink vendors inside the park. We plan for this to be a time to celebrate our community and come together to take a stand against sexual violence.

We are reaching out to the community to be involved in the Rock the Denim Campaign. We are looking for businesses, civic groups, and individuals to sponsor, participate in Denim Day, host Denim Decorating Parties or volunteer with this campaign. Tuesday Tunes {2.5.13}

So My buddy Holli from Holli's Hoots and Hollers is Hosting Tuesday Tunes with Lauren from Outside the Frame. So I thought I would link-up with them today. During the past few weeks it's hard to listen to the radio. It seems like every time a good upbeat, make me happy kind of song went off, something like "I drive your truck" was right behind it and I would dissolve into tears.

My sister and I both really love music, and her best friend made her a really awesome mix CD to get her through the long car rides and the quiet nights. There have been two songs in particular that have really helped me.

1. Over You by Miranda Lambert. It's sad, but unless I'm actually looking at pictures when I listen to it, it soothes me more than anything.

2. His eye is on the sparrow. I knew the hymn, but my sister introduced me to this version and I'm in love. It definitely helps me center myself when things are starting to feel off-balanced again. (I don't imagine that will ever really stop.)

Dancing on the Moon

So I usually listen to my audiobooks when I'm driving around, but I was between books and I've been listening to music instead. Radio gets on my nerves most of the time and I haven't bought CDs in a few years, so I was listening to Mandy Moore's Coverage CD last week.

Have you ever noticed that as bloggers we tend to tell the stories (whether funny, serious or trivial) that lead to our posts? It's like we want to justify our choices in case someone doesn't understand or appreciate our stories.

Anyway, I love this CD. I already love Mandy Moore, but she picked such great songs on this album. And the lyrics! I forgot how beautiful Song Lyrics could be!

I've been immersed in the music. Of course thinking about Mandy Moore always make me think of a Walk to Remember (also a great album with great lyrics) My favorite song on that album was Someday We'll Know. I loved the line, "I bought a ticket to the end of the rainbow."

So anyway, I'm caught up in Mandy Moore this week and reveling in the awesome lyrics. Thought I'd share!
