Wino Wednesday: There's an app for that!

 SweetSouthernGirl

Welcome back to Wino Wednesday with Aubrey from High-Heeled Love and Myself!

Three Simple Rules:

1) Take the Button
2) Write a Wine-related Post
3) Link-up!

A few weeks ago I got my first iPhone. It was my Christmas present from J. Of course after I made sure all of the necessary apps were in place (i.e. twitter, instagram, pinterest, etc.) I started to browse for fun apps. I came across several free Wine Apps!

So far I have two that I like to use. The first is Hello Vino.

This is the home screen.

It's a great little tool, and so far I've learned that I'm pretty good at pairing!

Once I find a wine I can go to their website and find a local retailer. It's honestly very useful. The only thing I don't like about the app is that you have to pay to scan labels. It's not expensive, but I don't like the "nickle and dime" thing.

That's where Vivino comes in, the app allows for free scanning. It's also good for rating wines and it syncs with facebook so if you have friends who also use the app you can share recommendations!

I took a pic of the open bottle on my counter to give you an idea of the kind of info the app gives you. (There's a lot of scrolling to see it all... there's actually a little more than this for this bottle.) Sometimes it recognizes the label but gets the variety wrong. In those cases you can click change wine and it will show you the other varieties and you can choose yours. For example this is actually the Rex Goliath Pinot Noir and it initially pulled up the Merlot. I didn't notice till I'd combined the images so I'm not changing it, haha. But I went back in and the Pinot Noir is is there and it wasn't hard to find once I had the label image.

So do any of you have wine apps on your phone? What do you think of these?

Link-Up your Wino Wednesday post here. Don't forget to post the button! Happy Sipping!

I may have teased you on FB about your wino habit, but both of these apps sound pretty useful. I believe, I'll be downloading these.

Thanks for being a fabulous Wino Wednesday co-host!
