Sisters, Tattoos, and Blackouts

I had originally intended to do one long post and include pics and stories for all of my tattoos, then I decided to break it down into a couple of posts for a few reasons.

Reason #1: I can't find all my pics today.

Reason #2: It's been a long week and this is all I have the energy for at this very moment :)

This is a (blurry, imperfect) picture of the tattoo I got with my sister back in 2006 right after I graduated from college. The symbols mean big sister, little sister.

There is a nice fun story that goes along with it. Of course is fun for everyone who isn't me, it was actually one of the most embarrassing moments of my life.

For some reason, I was incredibly nervous the day I got this tattoo. I had worked myself up about getting this one because I wasn't 100% sure how I felt about the placement. We were also spending a little more money than I'd hoped, and since there were symbols involved there was that fear that perhaps I didn't really know what it meant.

So anyway, my sister and I drove up to Asheville for the day and went to one of the tattoo parlors downtown. The guy working drew up what we wanted and then we got started. I don't remember now who was going first, I just remember that when I sat down in the chair and they touched me with that needle I passed out... cold. It wasn't the needle! I already had one tattoo and I've gotten two more since, but something about that one had me so keyed up that when I finally sat down and relaxed, I passed out on the spot.

Thankfully, I don't have any pictures to show you of that. My sister was in front of me and she caught me. I went to the bathroom to splash my face with water and while there discovered that I'd gotten my monthly visitor a couple of weeks early and I was totally unprepared! I stayed hidden in the bathroom while my sister ran two blocks to my car and fished around in my console for something. I just knew the guys working there had to think I was the biggest idiot in the world!

For whatever reason when I got back in the chair I was still shaky so the guy took pretty frequent breaks to make sure I wasn't going to pass out again. It was horrifying. I never used that place again because I couldn't stand the thought of showing my face in there! I'm so happy we got them though. My step-dad shot this pic a couple of years ago, and while I didn't love my hair and I think it makes me look huge, I love it.

Thats a really cute tattoo. Don't worry about passing out, when I got my first tat when I was 18, the guy was about to start when this big burly dude in the chair next to me passed out. I was scared to death to get my tattoo after that. I only did it after lots of convincing lol :)

Nice! I have been thinking more and more about the tattoos Chris and I have been planning. We want one for us and one for the kids but we are waiting until all the kids are done.
