Honorary Bridesmaids

I have asked 10 girls to be my honorary bridesmaids. That's a lot! But I have so many wonderful friends that I want to have around me as I get married. I don't want a big flashy ceremony with lots of attendants, but I want them around, and I want them to know they are special.

So I made a simple notecard with their names and then wrote personal notes on the back for each girl. Some of them already knew I was going to be asking them, and a few I'd actually talked to already but everyone likes mail right?

I found this on Pinterest, which is a great idea if you and your friends have never heard of an honorary bridesmaid. Since most of my friends are familiar with the concept, I didn't want to put any real "rules" with the role, more because I wanted flexibility :)

So I get to have all of my girls with me for the celebrations but it will not be nearly as stressful for them because they get to wear what they want and they don't have to stand in front of people or feel obligated to show up for every single pre-wedding event. Perfect right?

I was an Honorary Bridesmaid for my friend Rebecca last weekend. I went to her Bachelorette Dinner, the Rehearsal Dinner, the Bridesmaids Luncheon, and I got to go see her in her gown before the ceremony. It was awesome. She was so sweet. She had these pretty daffodils for us to carry and gave me this adorable make-up bag with my initial on it!

I've been really excited thinking about the things I can do with and for my honorary bridesmaids as well as my sisters (who are my actual attendants). It's going to be such a fun time. I absolutely can't wait!

Have you ever been an Honorary Bridesmaid? Did you have them in your wedding?

I eloped, so I had no bridesmaids, but I think they are a great idea. It's a nice way to make everyone feel included.

I have never heard of this before... and wish I had when I had my wedding, such a nice idea for people who don't want a big wedding party.
