MM: "Landslide"

Today is a sad day for me. My great-grandmother passed away last night. She's been in a nursing home in Georgia for more than ten years now and I've only seen her sporadically when my sister/s and I would make a weekend trip to visit. For a long time new her mind had been going and they called in hospice before Christmas.

MawMaw taught me to sew and one wonderful summer I spent every afternoon with her working on a quilt. I am soo happy to have that quilt. Her son, my grandfather, passed away several years ago, and I can't help but think of one when I think of the other. I have been very lucky to have the grandparents and great-grandparents that I've had.

I'd already been planning to link-up with Musical Mondays but I picked a new song that kinda sums up the way most of us feel when we lose the older generations in our family.

"Landslide"

Took this love and I took it down
Climbed a mountain and I turned around
And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
Till the landslide brought me down

Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
And can I sail through the changing ocean tides
Can I handle the seasons of my life?
Oh oh I don't know, oh I don't know

Well, I've been afraid of changing
'Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older I'm getting older too
Yes I'm getting older too, so

I've been afraid of changing
'Cause I, I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older
I'm getting older too oh yes
I'm getting older too

So, take this love, take it down
Oh if you climb a mountain and you turn around
If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well the landslide will bring you down, down
And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills

Well maybe the landslide will bring you down
Well well, the landslide will bring you down

I LOVE this song, and seriously this version is the best. Though the Smashing Pumpkins do a good one too. Thanks so much for participating!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Grandparents - great-grandparents, they hold such a special place in our hearts. And this song is beautiful. Thinking of you!

Danielle, I'm so sorry for your loss. Even though we know these things are inevitable, it's always hard to lose someone who's been such a part of our lives.

This is a beautiful song. Like Miss Angie, I also like the Smashing Pumpkins cover.
